Not everything I am interested in has to do with economics.

I read more fiction than anything else. I tend to gravitate toward science fiction, mystery, psychological fiction, and stories that spend a lot of time inside a character’s head. I like books that leave something to think about after the last page. Classic English literature has a permanent place on my reading list, especially Austen, Brontë, and Eliot. I also return to classic Persian literature, which feels like a different kind of conversation with the past.

I have a similar weakness for stories built around mysteries, puzzles, and questions that take time to unravel. On screen, some of the shows I’ve enjoyed most include Severance, Silo, Stranger Things, and Sherlock. Apparently, I have a fairly consistent preference for stories where something is not quite what it first appears to be.

I’m slowly learning French. Progress is not particularly fast, but I like the process of learning a language and noticing how much a different language changes the way an idea is expressed.

I also like cooking, especially when it gives me an excuse to experiment rather than follow a recipe exactly. My results are inconsistent, but the process is part of the fun. I have a particular weakness for pasta, fries, chicken, chocolate, and Istanbul-style food.

More generally, I like having a warm, comfortable home to come back to. I enjoy quiet routines, reading, watching something good at the end of the day, and occasionally disappearing into a completely different subject for no practical reason.

This is the part of the website least concerned with what I am supposed to be doing.
