My experience spans academic research, teaching, data analysis, and statistical work. Across these roles, I have developed a particular interest in empirical research and in using data to understand economic and social questions.

Research

Research Assistant

The University of British Columbia Aug 2026 – Present

Working with Dr. Min Hu on empirical research involving faculty compensation across Canadian universities.

  • Building an automated data collection pipeline in Python.
  • Collecting and structuring faculty-level data from multiple public sources.
  • Integrating and matching information across datasets.
  • Preparing data for empirical analysis of faculty earnings differences across disciplines and institutions.
  • Working with large and heterogeneous datasets where careful data construction is an important part of the research process.

I am also contributing to research involving the characterization of laminar flame behavior in sustainable aviation fuel surrogates, gaining experience with experimental and computational approaches to empirical research.

Research Assistant

Allameh Tabataba’i University Sep 2025 – Jan 2026

Worked on a research project examining fertility, gender, and intra-household bargaining.

  • Conducted literature reviews and synthesized relevant economic research.
  • Prepared and organized research data.
  • Conducted econometric analysis.
  • Contributed to the development and interpretation of empirical results.

Researcher

BIAS Team (Behavioral Insights & Solutions Team) Oct 2024 – Mar 2025

Contributed to a behavioral economics field experiment examining whether nudge interventions influence payment behavior.

The project strengthened my interest in behavioral economics and in understanding the gap between theoretical assumptions about decision making and observed behavior in real-world settings.

Teaching

Teaching Assistant

University of British Columbia Okanagan Sep 2026 – Present

Teaching Assistant for undergraduate economics courses, including Data and Statistics for Economics, Principles of Microeconomics, and Principles of Macroeconomics.

My responsibilities include supporting students through tutorials and academic assistance, marking coursework and assessments, and helping students develop a stronger understanding of quantitative and economic concepts.

Teaching Assistant

University of Tehran Sep 2023 – Jun 2025

Taught and supported undergraduate courses in mathematics, statistics, and economics.

  • Led tutorials and problem-solving sessions for Mathematics I & II, Statistics I & II, and Microeconomics I & II.
  • Graded assignments, tests, and other coursework.
  • Provided academic support to students during office hours and tutorials.
  • Taught introductory Python and R programming.
  • Designed a hands-on course project to help students apply statistical concepts using programming and data.

Data & Statistical Work

Statistical Assistant

Statistics Canada Jun 2026 – Present

Support researchers and statistical operations through statistical software, network resources, and administrative tasks. This role has given me experience working within Canada’s national statistical system and strengthened my familiarity with professional data environments.

Data Analyst

Datalks Apr 2025 – Feb 2026

Worked with Labour Force Survey (LFS) data using R.

  • Cleaned and analyzed survey data.
  • Interpreted statistical results.
  • Developed data-driven narratives to communicate findings clearly.
  • Used statistical programming to turn complex datasets into interpretable results.

Other

Book Author

KheiliSabz Sep 2022 – Feb 2023

Co-authored a Mathematics and Statistics textbook for high school students preparing for Iran’s national university entrance examination.

The experience introduced me to a different side of quantitative work: translating mathematical and statistical ideas into explanations that are rigorous while remaining accessible to students.
